Scenarios Exercise to Anticipate Risks and Strengthen Resilience in the New Normal
International tourism accounted for 4.1% of Singapore’s national GDP in 2017, with a direct contribution of $17.7 billion. The percentage was projected to increase to 4.4% in 2028. Beyond the figures, tourism plays an essential role in reinforcing Singapore’s status as a vibrant global city that is a magnet for capital, businesses and talent. One key assumption behind the success of Singapore’s tourism is that we will always open our international borders. COVID-19 has proved that our assumptions do not always hold. The ability to question its basic assumptions is crucial for any organisations, especially in times of crisis and uncertainties.
